Mafia Wars Tips and Tricks: The "Job Friend Reward"

Some of you have already noticed that Zynga has made changes to the attack screen to some users. Zynga has not implemented this to everyone because they are testing it on some users first. Some have also noticed changes in the job loot drop. When you do a job you can get loot dropped. Before you just got notified that you got a loot item doing a particular job. Now you're also notified that someone in your Mafia found this loot item for you.

What is the "Job Friend Reward"?

Well, when you (i.e. Jane Smith) get a loot item dropped and are notified that i.e. "John Smith found a TNT..." John Smith will get the following message in his "Player Updates" window (front page of Mafia Wars): "Jane Smith earned some great items with your help. Click here to claim your reward." When you click this link you'll get a experience point reward for helping a Mafia friend find a loot item doing a job.

The "Social Fight Reward", or Capo reward, for fighting as someones Capo is not the same as the "Job Friend Reward".

The "Social Fight Reward" gives you experience points for helping one of your Mafia members win a fight (fighting as their Capo). You don't have to be friends to get this reward, only that you are in each others Mafia, and it's rewarded automatically without clicking any links. This reward is one of two reasons to grow your Mafia beyond 501 Mafia.

Use this link to see how many experience points you've earned fighting as a Capo helping your Mafia: http://apps.facebook.com/inthemafia/index.php?xw_controller=index&xw_action=social_fight_reward
*Once you click that link your count will be set to zero. The next time you click the link you'll see the experience points you've received from the last time you clicked that link. Credit for the link goes to http://www.mafia-wars.org

The second reason to growing your Mafia beyond 501 is the "Job Friend Reward". It works in the exact same way as the "Social Fight Reward", only that now you also get experience points when YOU find loot when friends are doing jobs. The reward given is 2 experience points for everytime you find a loot item for a friend. There's no way to increase your chances of getting picked as the person finding the loot item when your friend are doing that job. It's equally random as getting picked fighting as someones Capo in the "Social Fight Reward".

Everytime you check your "Player Updates" window and click the link provided when you get a message like this -"Jane Smith earned some great items with your help. Click here to claim your reward."- you'll see the reward you obtained from the last time you clicked that link. This also works the same as the "Social fight reward" link.

Now go out there and fight as a Capo, help your friends find some loot and grow your Mafia to earn more experience points.

Update 8/6-09 due to member comments: I want to clarify that the reward experience points are given automatically and there's no need to click the links to get them. The links are a tool so that you can see how many experience points you've been rewarded.

Key To Building A Large (5000+) Mafia Family

Why do I need more than 501 members in my Mafia?

"This may seem like a novice question, but why have a mafia size of 5,000, or 10,000 when Zynga says your limit is 501? What do the additional family members provide?"

First of all that is not a novice question and I've been asked that question almost daily so I'm going to address it here. As you all know, you can bring up to 501 Mafia when you fight (When you rob you can bring as many as equal to your current level... are you level 50 you can rob with 50 Mafia). What's the point in getting more mafia?

1. When someone uses you in fights and you fight as their Capo you can get money from that fight AND the most important thing - You'll receive EXPERIENCE POINTS! If you have a Mafia of 1000 the probability of fighting as someone's Capo is higher than if you have a Mafia of 501. You will be more used in fights from your own Mafia the bigger your Mafia is and you'll get more experience points....and money.

2. Having a big Mafia also increases your chances to find better candidates to your Top Mafia and finding the candidates that gives you maximum count for each available Top Mafia slot (Buttonman, Mastermind and so on).

3. For every 2 mafia you can buy 1 Mafia Mike. It has the best cost/gain ratio of all the properties AND it can't be robbed!!!

4. A big Mafia increases the chances that someone pick you for their Top Mafia. As you move up the levels, new players will promote you into their Top Mafia slots. This really kicks in around level 250+, but can be lower. You get additional bonuses for being placed in Top Mafia (being someone's Mastermind gives you occasional 50% extra XP on jobs, for instance--nice when you are trying to reach that next level).

Continuing to add mafia, especially new players, increases your chances of being promoted and getting the bonuses.
So, the next question is

"How do I add all of these people to my Mafia without getting one of those dreaded Pink Boxes?

The single most important thing to remember is that you get in trouble when you try to add 5,000 yourself, the key is to have 5,000 people add you.

There are a couple different ways to go about this, one is to add your name to some of the Add Me Lists, like we have here on MWNPT, the other is to join 1 or more of the Mass Email Lists.

MWNPT realized that this was a good way to get people to that 5,000 mark, and we have created a separate page dedicated to helping people reach 5,000 Members as safely as possible. Our Admins make time to review the email list, and remove errors, and if we are alerted to spam emails in the list, we remove them.

To learn more about Mass Email Adding, go here:

As always, post questions on our "* Official * Post Your Questions Here" Discussion Thread, and one of our Admins, or a helpful member, should answer you shortly.

Thank you all for your continued support!

Mafia Wars Moscow Tips, Tricks and Cheats

the postcard of Mafia Wars Moscow

Privet and welcome to Moskva! From this old and storied city, two rival groups - the Vory v Zakone and the Russian Mafiya - pull the strings of illegal enterprise across the globe.

However, your arrival in the city has upset the balance of power. Will you side with the Vory, the princes of thieves and the Old Guard of the Russian underworld? Or maybe you'd prefer the company of the brutally ruthless and efficient Mafiya? The decisions you make will have consequences, so choose carefully. Udachi!
Welcome to Moscow

The challenges in Moscow may be greater than those you faced in New York or Cuba, but so are the rewards. Once released Moscow will be available to those level 70 or greater.

however the tips, and tricks coming soon as the Mafia Wars Moscow Open,..

Mafia Wars Cuba Tips, Tricks and Cheats

MAFIA WARS IN CUBA!!!!

Recently Zynga opened a new beta named Mafia Wars: Cuba. Mafia Wars: Cuba is currently in Beta. You must reach the rank of Consigliere (level 35) before the Godfather will authorize any travel to Cuba.

I am playing that game on Facebook for fun.. In Cuba, Cuban Pesos are limited. You gotta save the Cuban Pesos. The challenges in Cuba may be greater than those you face in New York, but so are the rewards.

Here is some tips for Mafia wars Cuba:

1. The fastest way to earn pesos in Cuba is to fight other mafia..So fight and buy some business on Mafia wars Cuba.

2. When you are injured in a fight, don’t go to hospital on Mafia wars Cuba. To save Pesos fly back to NY and heal your player.

3. Earn My Little Friend Achievement easily.. like gifting an M16A1 to a friend. Tell your friend to send it back.. Doing this he or she can earn the My Little Friend achievement.

So build your mafia in Cuba before.. others..

Mafia Wars Tips, Tricks, and Cheats

It’s time for another tips session, and this time, it’s off to the mafia. Mafia Wars seems like a simple game at first glance, but once you get into it, it actually begins to become somewhat complicated with hits, different jobs, adding members, equipping all of them, and so on. What do you buy? What quests do you do? How should you level? These are all questions that are posed by new players, and it can be a bit daunting. Well, we searched high and low for ways to help you out, and hopefully these tips and tricks will help those new players that simply feel overwhelmed.

So you’ve started Mafia Wars and you’re not sure where to start, well, the first choice is easy enough: Pick a “Maniac” class. While earning more cash or health might seem appealing, energy is what allows you to do quests and it is significantly better to earn both cash and experience instead of just one. That said, it’s time to get down to business.

DO NOT add to you mafia right away. Yes, you do want a large mafia to be stronger, but if you are ill-prepared, this is going to hurt more than help. Essentially, you want to have a “Mafia Mikes” and a “Bloody Chainsaw” (please note, that the bloody chainsaw is a special item bought from the home page and will periodically change. For all intents and purposes, the special item tends to have similar stats, and is often interchangable if the chainsaw is gone) for every two members. Here’s the thing though, the game bases the amount of members you need for another one of these items based on your current members. So say you bought a chainsaw with a mafia of 12, but then added 8 people, you’ll now need 22 members to buy another one, thus losing out the extra chainsaws you could have bought at 16, 18, and 20 members. Assuming that you are now equipping properly, it is time to spend some experience points.

Mafia JobsIdeally, you want to put all of your points into energy so you can level faster. Since quests are going to be your primary source of experience and cash (hence why you used maniac), your limiting factor is how fast your energy recharges. Furthermore, energy resets every level, so having an high energy and a fast regeneration can get you to higher levels exponentially faster. Of course, you will want other stats eventually (when that is, is completely up to you), but this will give you a nice start.

Okay, so now you’re leveling at a nice pace and you’re getting those Mafia Mikes and Bloody Chainsaws when you should. What’s next? Why, equipping your mafia of course, and this can be done either via looting or buying. In general, it is better to loot in higher missions, but if you want to be safer, just buy, and if you’ve been doing what’s been said so far, money shouldn’t be a serious issue. The recommended equipment is as follows (once you can buy them of course):

  • Weapons: Bloody Chainsaws should be available to half your mafia (since you’ve been buying them every two members right?), thus the other half should utilize the Chain Guns (.50 Caliber Rifle is better once you start looting).
  • Armor: Body Armor all around – period. Yes, you can buy other stuff too, but this is a definite purchase.
  • Cars: Secondary to armor and weapons, but if you must have one, the Towncar comes recommended.

This should be more than enough to get you started on the right track in Mafia Wars. However, before things get wrapped up, here are some other interesting tips found around the web that should work for both the MySpace and Facebook versions of the game.

  • Avoid the Hitlist as best as possible. While it might be fun at higher levels, drawing attention to yourself at lower levels is just going to get you killed over and over again by high level players. Stay under the radar as long as you can.
  • If you ever attack someone and get the maximum amount of cash ($70,000), bookmark them and attack them as often as possible.
  • When you do start using other stats besides energy, it is best to keep attack and defense equal.
  • (MySpace Version) More Energy – Send an energy pack to a friend along with the message, then go to your MySpace page and click on the link (the image) and you will send one to yourself.
  • (MySpace Version) Beat the Bank 10% - Annoying, but if you deposit $9 at a time you will beat the system.
  • Best Early Cash & Experience Jobs:
  • Level 1 – 4: Auto Theft
  • Level 5 – 8: Bank Heist
  • Level 9 – 12: Museum Break In
  • Level 13 – 17: Wiretap the Cops

Best of luck, and happy gaming.
